We were born in 2019 as Quaxam Datalab. Today we are Quaxam Intelligent Systems: an intelligent systems engineering company that designs, builds and deploys what others only prototype. This is our story, our philosophy and the people who make it possible.

Our story
From a data lab to an intelligent systems company
Quaxam wasn't born from a trend, but from a conviction: the value of artificial intelligence isn't in papers or demos — it's in the systems that reach production. This is the story of how a data lab became an end-to-end engineering company.
2019
Quaxam Datalab is born
A group of engineers and researchers founds Quaxam Datalab with a simple, stubborn idea: turn data into decisions. The first projects are applied data science and machine learning — analytics, predictive models, automation — for organizations that had data, but no answers.
2020-2021
From the lab to production
We learn the lesson that defines the company: a model is not a product. For intelligence to be useful, it needs reliable data pipelines, robust software and infrastructure that operates 24/7. We stop delivering prototypes and start delivering complete systems.
2022-2023
Beyond the screen
We take intelligence into the physical world: computer vision, IoT, embedded systems and robotics. The boundary between digital and physical becomes our territory, and end-to-end engineering our way of working.
2024-2025
Four domains, one engineering
We consolidate artificial intelligence, data, software and embedded & autonomous systems into a single discipline, applied across multiple industries. We're no longer a data lab: we're a company that designs, builds and deploys complete intelligent systems.
2026Today
Quaxam Intelligent Systems
The name "Datalab" no longer told the story of who we are. Today we changed our name to Quaxam Intelligent Systems to reflect what we've been building for years: not data analytics, but end-to-end intelligent systems. Same team, same conviction and a bigger ambition: to be a reference in intelligent systems engineering in Latin America and worldwide.

Led by someone who researches and builds
An electronics engineer with a master's in electronics and a doctorate in engineering, Manuel Andrés Vélez-Guerrero has devoted his career to a single question: how to take intelligence from the laboratory into the real world. A researcher with the Software Research Group (GIS) and professor of Electronic Engineering at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC), his work bridges artificial intelligence, rehabilitation robotics, embedded systems and data science.
With more than 400 academic citations, his research on intelligent robotic exoskeletons, computational intelligence and motion capture spans exactly the four domains Quaxam is built on: AI, data, software and embedded systems. That same conviction — research with rigor to build systems that work — is what guides the company.
